Epic of Serinor: Arcane Dawn
A dwarven wanderer
Ostia is the youngest son of the Trireme family of dwarven outcast clans. The clans were shunned so long ago that most in the clan just speak of legendary underground holds; they don’t even remember the real reasons for their exile. They just know that they are only grudgingly accepted among those delving dwarves.
Ostia is unique in his family, lithe for a dwarf, perceptive and more far-ranging then most among this wandering troop of dwarves. He shares physical characteristics with his great-grandsire such as eye-color, hair-color and general body shape. His great-grandsire, Pireaus, shared that great wandering spirit and left on his own long ago but came back to the clans before he succumbed to old age. He had left a wife who re-married and had a large family. His only son hated him for leaving his mother. Of his direct descendants, only Ostia ever accepted him back. So Pireaus left him journal with a parchment, his most treasured possesion. It regarded accurately all the places the dwarf had ever been. It even seemed to exude the wanderlust that the two dwarves shared. With this transfer the elder dwarf expired, but transferred his spirit to his only true heir, a 9 year old dwarf.
Ostia was seen to pore over the document all the time.
